Former Senate Leader Ali Ndume has congratulated Rev. Dr. Amos Musa Mohzo on his re-election as President of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), urging him to use his leadership position to promote interfaith harmony across Nigeria.
Rev. Mohzo, first elected COCIN President in 2021, secured a fresh four-year mandate last week, a development Ndume described as a reflection of his dedication, integrity, and the trust he has earned over the years.
Senator Ndume, who hails from Gwoza in Borno South Senatorial District, praised Rev. Mohzo’s lifelong commitment to service, both within his community and the church:
“I have known you as a humble and God-fearing individual, whose divine calling has shaped your life and leadership. From your early days as a teacher in Gwoza to serving as COCIN Deputy General Secretary, General Secretary, Vice President, and now President, your record speaks for itself.”
He also commended Rev. Mohzo’s unassuming disposition, noting it exemplifies the biblical principle that “he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Highlighting the challenges facing Nigeria, Ndume stressed the importance of faith leaders in fostering unity:
“At a time when external forces are attempting to sow discord and incite religious tensions, your experience in managing diverse groups will be invaluable. I urge you and other leaders of faith-based organizations to work with the government to promote trust, understanding, and harmony among Nigerians of all faiths.”
Rev. Mohzo’s re-election underscores his continued influence and leadership within COCIN, as well as his pivotal role in promoting peace and cohesion in Nigeria’s religious landscape.
