Jigawa Govt Defends Due Process in Security Vehicle Donation

***Faults Media Report

By Ahmed Rufa’i, Dutse

The Jigawa State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and due process, dismissing as false and mischievous a recent online report alleging irregularities in the donation of operational vehicles to the Nigeria Police Force in the state.
In a statement titled “The False Publication on Jigawa’s Security Vehicle Donation” and signed by Mr. Ismaila Ibrahim Dutse, Public Relations Officer in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the State, the government expressed disappointment over what it called a “malicious and unfounded” article published by two online platforms, including National Update on November 5, 2025.
Mr. Dutse clarified that the procurement of the vehicles followed all due process requirements in line with the Public Procurement Act.
He noted that the contract was publicly advertised in Blueprint and People’s Daily newspapers on August 27, 2025, while a Due Process “No Objection” certificate (Ref: DPPMB/SSD/PROJ/025/VOL.1/003), dated July 4, 2025, was duly issued to the Secretary to the State Government before the contract award.
He explained that the Executive Council approval of November 3, 2025, pertains to the second phase of vehicle procurement intended for other security agencies in the state.
According to him, the contract was awarded only after a transparent and competitive selection process, contrary to claims of a “verbal award” to a council member.
“While we respect the constitutional right to freedom of information and expression, such rights must not be abused to promote falsehood or personal vendettas,” the statement added.
The government urged the public to disregard the report, assuring that Governor Malam Umar Namadi’s administration remains steadfast in its principles of transparency, accountability, and collaboration with credible media professionals for the progress of Jigawa State.
