Badaru Meets New Defence Chiefs, Reaffirms Unity and Strategic Focus

The Honourable Minister of Defence, His Excellency Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni, on Tuesday, 28th October 2025, received the newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff and the three Service Chiefs during their maiden courtesy visit to his office at the Ministry of Defence, Ship House, Abuja.
Those in attendance included the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General O.O. Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Major General W. Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral I. Abbas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke.
The visit signifies the beginning of a strengthened partnership and alignment within the nation’s defence leadership, reinforcing a shared commitment to unity of purpose, professionalism, and effective command coordination across the Armed Forces.
While welcoming the new Defence Chiefs, the Minister commended their distinguished service records and urged them to sustain the highest standards of discipline, operational excellence, and patriotism in the discharge of their duties. He reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive for a cohesive and proactive security architecture capable of addressing Nigeria’s contemporary security challenges.
The Honourable Minister expressed confidence that under the new leadership, the Armed Forces will redouble efforts to safeguard Nigeria’s territorial integrity, promote stability, and uphold the nation’s sovereignty and global standing.
