Former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Elder Simon Achuba, has congratulated Major General Waidi Shaibu on his appointment as Chief of Army Staff (COAS) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as well-deserved and timely.
In a personally signed statement, Achuba lauded the new Army Chief’s distinguished service record, expressing confidence that his leadership will strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture and restore public confidence in the Armed Forces.
“Major General Shaibu’s appointment reflects merit, integrity, and professionalism. I am confident he will bring his wealth of experience to bear in addressing the nation’s security challenges,” Achuba said.
He urged other Service Chiefs to work closely with the new COAS to ensure synergy and unity of purpose in tackling insecurity across the country.
The former Deputy Governor also commended President Tinubu for what he described as a “thoughtful and strategic choice,” noting that the selection of a Kogi-born officer to head the Army was a source of pride for the state and the nation at large.

“This appointment shows the Federal Government’s commitment to building a combat-ready, disciplined, and people-focused Army capable of defending Nigeria’s peace, unity, and territorial integrity,” he stated.
Achuba prayed for divine wisdom and strength for the new Army Chief in carrying out his duties effectively and urged Nigerians to support the military in its ongoing operations.
