In a groundbreaking push for green innovation and economic empowerment, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is set to distribute over 100 locally assembled electric vehicles to her constituents — with a special focus on women, farmers, and small business owners in Kogi Central.

The initiative, part of her annual constituency empowerment programme, underscores the senator’s growing commitment to promoting sustainability, local enterprise, and self-reliance.

According to Udensi Bernard, whose team is collaborating with the senator on the project, the idea took shape after an impromptu visit by Senator Natasha to his office two weeks ago, accompanied by her husband.
“Without wasting time, she said, ‘I want to carry out my yearly empowerment — but this time, I want to empower my people with electric vehicles,’” Bernard recalled.

Since then, technicians have been working around the clock to assemble the different EV models, all made and assembled in Nigeria. The vehicles are expected to be unveiled soon in a public ceremony.

Bernard explained that the project goes beyond philanthropy — it’s a strategic investment in a cleaner, smarter, and more inclusive economy.
“For farmers, these vehicles make it easier to move produce to market. For business owners, they cut logistics costs. For transport operators, they increase profits while reducing reliance on petrol and diesel,” he said.

The vehicles promise lower maintenance costs, zero emissions, and longer-term affordability — aligning with Nigeria’s push for renewable energy adoption and green mobility.

Observers note that since her return from a six-month suspension, Senator Natasha has “hit the ground running,” with her constituency’s welfare firmly at the center of her legislative and development agenda.
“Senator Natasha’s initiative is not just empowerment,” Bernard added. “It’s a visionary step toward a cleaner, smarter, and more self-reliant Nigeria.”

The official unveiling of the electric vehicles is expected in the coming days.
