***Tasks Contractor on Timely Completion of 23km Ogane-Inigu Road

    By Friday Idachaba, Lokoja

The Kogi State House of Assembly has commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his commitment to inclusive governance and rural development, describing his projects as a deliberate effort to spread growth and infrastructure across the state.

The commendation followed the adoption of a motion of appreciation moved by Hon. Ochidi Usman Shehu (APC–Dekina/Biraidu) during Tuesday’s plenary in Lokoja.

The House specifically praised the Governor for approving and awarding the contract for the construction of the 23-kilometre Ogane-Inigu Road in Dekina/Biraidu Constituency — a project it described as “vital to the economic survival” of the area.

Lawmakers also urged relevant government agencies and contractors handling the project to ensure its timely completion and strict adherence to quality and safety standards.

Moving the motion, Hon. Ochidi said the project represented a long-awaited intervention that would transform the socio-economic fortunes of the Ogane-Inigu axis and adjoining communities.

“The people have waited decades for this project. It is not just a road, but a lifeline that connects communities, improves access to healthcare and education, and stimulates trade and agriculture,” Ochidi said.
“We must make sure it is executed with the quality it deserves.”

He also acknowledged the contributions of the State Auditor-General, Alhaji Yakubu Okala, and Dr. Ocholi Abdulrahman, an indigene of Ogane-Inigu, for their efforts toward the realization of the project.

Seconding the motion, Hon. Sunday Daku (PDP–Bassa) lauded Governor Ododo’s “listening leadership,” saying the road award reflected his genuine commitment to responsive and people-centered governance.

In his maiden contribution, Hon. Hassan Chado (APC–Dekina/Okura) expressed gratitude to the Governor for his support and described the road as a long-time yearning of his people that would “bring lasting relief” once completed.

Similarly, Hon. Jibrin Abu (APC–Ajaokuta) praised Ododo’s development strides, saying the Governor was “building Kogi State, not just governing it.”

In his ruling, Speaker Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf commended Hon. Ochidi for sponsoring the motion and noted that acknowledging good leadership would motivate the Governor to do more.

The motion was unanimously adopted by the House, which further resolved to monitor the project’s progress to ensure its completion within schedule and in line with standard specifications.
