Art Ministry, Lens for Good Partner to Empower Creatives

The Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy has launched a strategic partnership with the Lens for Good Initiative to empower Nigerian creatives, promote national identity through positive storytelling, and showcase the country’s rich cultural heritage to the world.
The partnership, formalised on Monday at the Nest Gardens in Guzape, Abuja, aims to create fresh opportunities for young Nigerians in the creative industry through training, mentorship, and collaboration. It also seeks to catalyse economic growth by equipping creatives with skills in photography, filmmaking, digital storytelling, and content production.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, described the initiative as a pivotal step toward advancing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for economic diversification and youth empowerment.
Special Adviser, Media & Publicity, Dr Nneka Ikem Anibeze in a statemen quoted her to have said. “This partnership is not just about art or creativity—it is about building a stronger sense of who we are as Nigerians,” the Minister said.
“By empowering our storytellers, filmmakers, and digital creators, we are investing in the image of Nigeria and ensuring that our stories are told with pride, purpose, and authenticity.”
According to Musawa, the collaboration will nurture the next generation of creative professionals while reshaping global perceptions of Nigeria through compelling narratives that celebrate its culture, resilience, and innovation.
The Lens for Good Initiative, represented by its Programme Director, Julia Azubuike, will provide access to digital resources, mentorship, and workshops, while also collaborating on flagship film and content projects that highlight Nigeria’s diversity and creative potential.
Musawa reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s soft power through culture and creativity, stressing that the creative sector remains one of the fastest-growing contributors to national development.
“We are creating opportunities for our young people to thrive,” she added. “Through this partnership, we are positioning Nigeria as a hub for creativity and cultural excellence in Africa and beyond.”
The collaboration is expected to stimulate job creation, promote cultural tourism, and deepen the global appreciation of Nigeria’s artistic and cultural identity.
