It was the founder of Grameen Bank, Muhammad Yunus, that wrote an interesting book titled ‘Creating A World Without Poverty’, sometimes in 2005. Yunus went out of his comfort zone of the university, where he lectured students on theories revolving around the economics of poverty, and volunteered to lead his students on a field trip to the surrounding farming communities to learn from the poor that he became an ardent advocate for creating a world without poverty. This experience gave him the inspiration to establish Grameen Bank, an innovative banking programme that provides poor people, especially women, with small loans to support their businesses. This and many more life-changing initiatives made him win the Nobel Peace Prize, an international award presented to individuals or organizations that have made significant contributions to promoting peace, reducing conflict, and fostering international cooperation.
Right from day one, when the current Chief Whip of the 10th Nigerian Senate, Sen. Mohammed Tahir Monguno became the representative of the people, he knew he was ready to be an inalienable part of the future of his people as a reliable and trusted game-changer.

As part of his commitment to optimising and enriching his community in the area of agriculture, Sen. Monguno recently facilitated three hundred (300) solar powered irrigation pumps and thousands of fertilisers for both men and women to support their farming activities.
These pumps will provide high irrigation efficiency by supplying the proper amount of water to every area of the field to gain speed in their farming cultivation.
He believes that increasing agricultural productivity is essential to reducing rural poverty and ensuring greater food security as well as ease the overwhelming challenges the farmers face during the dry season.
While distributing the solar power pumping systems to the farmers, the proactive Senator from Borno North said, “The renewable energy can not be overemphasized in today’s world especially against the backdrop of the fact that the cost of diesel and petrol is very expensive and beyond the reach of our farmers”.
The Senator, who is also the Chief Whip of the 10th Senate further said that “In consonance with the Governor Babagana Zulum’s Agriculture Transformation Agenda that has the sole purpose of bringing about food security as the Governor reliably put out that the worst form of insecurity is the food insecurity so in order for us to achieve food security, we decided to provide 300 solar powered irrigation pumps and fertilisers to support farming activities”.
Sen. M.T. Monguno is bringing the force of his vision, will and personality to bear and committed to creating the changes that he believes can significantly increase the fortunes of his people and eliminate poverty in the country.
With this initiative in place Borno North farmers will become better positioned to provide for their communities in particular and the atate in general.
