Tinubu Hails Irabor at 60, Book on Boko Haram Unveiled in Abuja

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on Friday, October 3, 2025, joined prominent Nigerians in celebrating the 60th birthday of the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, General Leo Irabor (Rtd), and the unveiling of his new book, “SCARS: Nigeria’s Journey and the Boko Haram Conundrum.”
The event, held at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, had the Minister of Defence, H.E. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar representing the President as Special Guest of Honour.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, chaired the occasion, which drew an impressive roll call of dignitaries, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, and Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sokoto.
Also in attendance were the Chief of Defence Staff, General C.G. Musa, the Service Chiefs, and several serving and retired senior military officers.
The highlight of the evening was the formal presentation of Irabor’s book, which chronicles Nigeria’s struggle with insurgency and offers reflections on the fight against Boko Haram.
The gathering was described by participants as both a celebration of service and sacrifice, and an important contribution to Nigeria’s security discourse.
