Hon. Dominic Ikyaagba, an Abuja-based politician, has formally declared his intention to contest the Buruku Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
Ikyaagba made the declaration at Mbaikyongo Council Ward, where he met with the ward’s PDP Executive Committee and community elders to seek their blessings and support. He recalled his near success in the 2019 Benue State House of Assembly primaries, where he emerged runner-up, pledging to channel that experience into a stronger bid this time.

> “I will leverage my capabilities, the goodwill of our people, and God’s guidance to secure victory in the general elections if entrusted with the mandate,” he said.
Accompanied by his elder brother, Mr. Richard Torhee, a retired federal civil service director, Ikyaagba presented his plans to drive development in Buruku. He also formally requested permission from the ward EXCO to begin broader consultations across the constituency.
The declaration received wide endorsement. Elder Yinamga Pever, chairman of the Mbaikyongo Elders Forum, assured Ikyaagba of the elders’ support, describing him as a man of proven capacity and commitment. Similarly, Ward Chairman Hon. David Adom pledged the EXCO’s backing, while Elder Innocent Achiv lauded the unity shown by stakeholders in rallying behind “our son’s bid for the ticket.”
In a symbolic gesture, Ikyaagba later hosted his traditional kinsmen, who performed customary rites and offered prayers for his political journey. Speaking on their behalf, Elder Orkaa Loho, Terkura Songo, Myanyi Loho, Zaki Msenge Ikyaagba, and Richard Torhee expressed unanimous blessings and promised to undertake further traditional rites to fortify his ambition.
With the support of both party leaders and community elders, Ikyaagba’s declaration has set the stage for what promises to be a keenly contested race for the Buruku Federal Constituency seat.
