The Parish Priest of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Airport Road, Lugbe, Abuja, Very Rev. Fr. James Akpamoo, has announced that all preparations are in place for the parish’s 2025 Cultural Day Celebration and Fundraising for its ongoing church-building project.

The celebration, themed “Our Culture, Our Heritage,” will take place on Sunday, 28 September 2025, beginning with a 9 a.m. Mass and Thanksgiving at the parish premises.

Planning Committee Chairman Sir Andrew Yahaya Adejo, KSJI, said the event will be held under the distinguished chairmanship of Brig. Gen. Nwachukwu N.N. Nwanesi, PhD, KSJI, KSS. The Royal Father of the Day will be Rt. Hon. Chevalier John Umah (Akiliwo Oda-ojiji), while Mrs. Olufisayo Darryl-Odiaka will serve as Mother of the Day.

The First Parish Priest, Very Rev. Fr. Thomas Edogbanya, will officiate the Mass, which will be followed by a vibrant cultural fiesta showcasing the traditional attire, music, and cuisines of parishioners from across Nigeria’s diverse states.

Fr. Akpamoo expressed gratitude for the progress made on the new church building, noting that construction has advanced to the roofing stage. He appealed to Catholics, Christians, and all well-wishers to join the effort:

“We invite everyone who finds joy in building for the Lord to be part of this unique opportunity. Your contribution will help us create a befitting place of worship and attract the divine blessings promised to those who invest in God’s house,” he said.

The parish community expects a colorful, historic day blending faith, culture, and unity as they work toward completing their new house of worship.
