Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has urged Christian pilgrims from the FCT to use their 2025 Easter pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan as a moment to seek divine intervention for Nigeria’s peace, unity, and development.
Speaking at a pre-departure orientation on Monday in Abuja, Mahmoud described pilgrimage as more than a holy excursion, calling it “a sacred opportunity for renewal and intercession at a critical time for our nation.”
The minister acknowledged that regional conflicts in the Middle East had delayed the pilgrimage but assured the intending pilgrims of their safety.

“Pilgrimage is a spiritually enriching journey that draws us closer to God and His purpose for our country,” Mahmoud said. “Despite recent global challenges, the FCT Administration under Minister Nyesom Wike remains committed to safeguarding your welfare and ensuring your mission is successful.”
She commended the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) for its role in coordinating pilgrimages nationwide and pledged continued collaboration to improve the spiritual and logistical experience for FCT pilgrims.
Gloria Dandam, Director of the FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, reminded participants that their trip is not a sightseeing tour but a call to deeper faith.
“You are not just visiting historical landmarks—you are on a journey of reflection, renewal, and redemption,” Dandam said. “Support one another, pray for our country, and let your experience strengthen your relationship with God.”
The orientation also provided travel and safety guidance from experts, preparing pilgrims for a smooth and meaningful journey.
