The Jigawa Chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding ethics and professionalism while working to ensure faster dispensation of justice in Jigawa State.

NBA Dutse Chairman, Barr. Mustapha M. Kashim, stated this at the 2025 Jigawa State Law Week celebration held at M-Town Hotel, Dutse. Themed “Upholding Justice Through Ethical Advocacy,” the event aimed to reinforce lawyers’ duties to the court, promote ethical practice, and remove bottlenecks that slow down justice delivery.

Kashim said the branch is investing in capacity building for members through regular training and retraining in modern legal practice. “We are committed to boosting ethics and professionalism in Jigawa’s legal system for the benefit of both the system and the people,” he stressed, while commending Governor Malam Umar Namadi for his support to the judiciary.

In his remarks, Governor Namadi praised the NBA for its dedication to ethics, describing it as the foundation of the legal profession.
He said the association has remained true to its mandate of promoting the rule of law, ensuring access to justice — including for the less privileged — and advancing smooth justice delivery.

“The theme of this year’s Law Week is very apt. It encourages members to uphold ethical considerations, avoid unwholesome practices, and ensure justice for all,” the governor noted.

Namadi also highlighted government initiatives to strengthen the justice system, including the establishment of Community Law Centres, the introduction of Zauren Sulhu (mediation platforms), and plans to expand Citizens’ Rights Units in judicial divisions.

He urged all stakeholders to discharge their duties with integrity, reminding them of their accountability both in service and in the hereafter.
