London is gearing up for a dazzling night of glitz, glamour, and Nigerian pride as the first-ever Nigerian UK Sports Awards (NUKSAwards) takes centre stage on Sunday, 15th September 2025.
Celebrating excellence both on and off the pitch, the awards will honour over 130 outstanding Nigerians and organisations across 36 categories – spanning sports, philanthropy, community service, media, and cultural impact.
The evening will be hosted by Mayowa Quadri of VERSUS and broadcaster Sirayah Shiraz, with proceeds supporting grassroots sports and mentorship programmes for young athletes in Nigeria.
From the pitch to the podium, some of Nigeria’s biggest stars will be in attendance – including Victor Osimhen, Leon Balogun, and football legend Nwankwo Kanu, who will receive the prestigious NUKSA Legendary Award.
“This is more than an award ceremony. It’s a monumental tribute to generations of Nigerians excelling in sport, giving back to their communities, and inspiring the next generation,” said spokesperson David Doherty.
Those being Honoured inlude, Victor Osimhen – The Naija Spirit Award, Anthony Joshua – Amazing UK Boxer of Nigerian Descent, Bukayo Saka – NUKSA Male MVP and Asisat Oshoala – NUKSA Female MVP
Humanitarian awards will spotlight projects such as Alex Iwobi’s Project 17, Maro Itoje’s The Pearl Fund, and the Bukayo Saka & BigShoe Initiative.
The Legendary Hall of Fame will welcome greats like Jay-Jay Okocha, Eniola Aluko, Joseph Yobo, Mikel Obi, and Daniel Amokachi.
Political and diplomatic figures will also be honoured, including Governor Douye Diri (Bayelsa), Governor Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Governor Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), and HE Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN.
