The Federal Government says it is yet to decide the fate of fuji maestro Wasiu Ayinde Marshal—popularly known as K1 de Ultimate—despite his public apology over a recent confrontation at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, said on Friday that the government had seen the singer’s apology but had not deliberated on it.
“We have just seen this (apology) on social media like everyone else. We have not had the opportunity to deliberate on it,” Keyamo stated.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) confirmed that petitions against KWAM 1 had already been forwarded to the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police for investigation and possible prosecution. The petitions stem from an August 5, 2025 clash between the singer and ValueJet officials.
In his statement on Friday, KWAM 1 called the incident “unfortunate” and denied reports that he was carrying alcohol, explaining that a medical condition forces him to remain constantly hydrated.
“Unknown to many, I suffer from chronic dehydration… The flask contained only water, not alcohol,” he said.
The veteran musician apologised to the Presidency, the Ministry of Aviation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the NCAA, ValueJet, and Nigerians, pledging to put the matter behind him.
