Deputy Speaker, Leaders Celebrate Uche Nwosu at 50

It was a gathering of political heavyweights, friends, and admirers on Friday 08-08-2025 in Abuja as Ugwumba Uche Nwosu—former Chief of Staff to ex-Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha—marked his 50th birthday in grand style.
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, hailed Nwosu as one of the South East’s brightest lights and a leader whose values are critical to Nigeria’s future.
“At fifty, he has achieved so much, but I know there is still more ahead,” Kalu said. “My generation is looking for credible, decent leaders like him to help drive our nation-building efforts. Especially from my zone, the South East, we must rally around one another to strengthen our various callings.”
Kalu described the celebrant as a peace-loving man whose experience has left a mark in both public and private sectors.

From the diplomatic circle, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, lauded Nwosu as “a man of peace, ideologically consistent, and unwavering in his support for friends and subordinates, come rain or shine.”
For Rochas Okorocha, Nwosu’s father-in-law and political mentor, the milestone birthday was no surprise.
“He is a rising star from the South East because of his hard work, vision, dedication, and humility—traits I saw in him many years ago,” Okorocha said.
In an emotional speech, Nwosu reflected on his journey from humble beginnings to national prominence.
“It has been fifty years of grass to grace and service to humanity,” he said. “I know what it means to wake up without food. My life is for the young ones, and I will keep using what I have to support Nigerian youths.”
He urged young people to believe in themselves, embrace dignity in labour, and take charge of their destinies.
“Don’t be ashamed of what you do—whether selling sachet water or cutting hair—do it well. Your destiny is in your hands; drive it to your destination.”
Through his NGO initiatives, Nwosu has touched countless lives, especially the less privileged. He encouraged youths to shun crime, embrace peace, and stay resilient in the pursuit of excellence.
The colourful celebration featured cultural performances, goodwill messages from Peter Obi, former Senate Presidents Anyim Pius Anyim and Ken Nnamani, as well as past governors. The cake-cutting, anchored by former Senator Dino Melaye, was a highlight, with E-Money and other top personalities in attendance.
