Nigeria’s D’Tigress have booked their spot in the final of the 2025 Women’s AfroBasket with a gritty 75–68 win over rivals Senegal in a pulsating semi-final encounter.
Despite a shaky start that saw Senegal lead 11–2, the Nigerian ladies bounced back with style, ending the first quarter on top at 22–17. From there, it was a rollercoaster battle.
D’Tigress stayed sharp in the second quarter, heading into halftime with a 43–37 cushion. But Senegal refused to go down without a fight, clawing back in the third to snatch a narrow 54–50 lead.

With everything on the line, Nigeria turned up the heat in the final quarter. The defending champions showed their class, regaining control and sealing the win to maintain their dominance in African women’s basketball.
This victory makes it nine straight wins against Senegal and extends their AfroBasket unbeaten run to 28 games. Now, they’re just one game away from a fifth consecutive title—a feat that would cement their place in history.
