As Nigeria gears up for the 2027 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has launched a nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) campaign aimed at expanding citizen participation in the electoral process.
Starting Monday, August 18, 2025, eligible Nigerians can pre-register online via the official INEC portal: cvr.inecnigeria.org. Physical registration follows a week later on Monday, August 25, at all INEC Local Government Area offices and specially designated centres across the country.
The exercise will run weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., giving citizens ample opportunity to secure their place on the voter roll.
“We urge all eligible citizens to seize this opportunity,” INEC stated via its official X handle. “Whether you’re registering for the first time or updating your voter information, the time to act is now.”
Beyond new registrations, the CVR exercise will also accommodate: Transfer of voting location, Replacement of missing or damaged PVCs and Corrections to personal data like names or dates of birth
INEC emphasized its commitment to a transparent, inclusive, and credible electoral process, noting that the 2025 elections will only be as strong as the voters who show up.
“Our democracy thrives when every voice counts,” the Commission added. “This voter registration drive is a critical first step.”
For many first-time voters and returning citizens, this registration window is not just a civic duty—it’s a chance to shape the future.
