In a move set to transform Nigeria’s fashion landscape, the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy has joined forces with The Fashion Academy Abuja to launch a designer training programme like no other.
The initiative, part of the Creative Leap Acceleration Program (CLAP), is not just a training—it’s a movement. Aimed at young designers, tailors, and aspiring fashion entrepreneurs, the program is crafted to unlock creativity, sharpen skills, and build the next generation of industry trailblazers.
From the rhythmic hum of sewing machines to the bold strokes of branding strategies, participants will dive deep into: Pattern Making & Professional Sewing Techniques, and Fashion Business & Branding.
The training promises more than just lessons—it offers mentorship from industry leaders, hands-on workshops, and practical business sessions designed to turn raw talent into thriving fashion ventures.
At the heart of the launch is a clear vision: to position Nigeria as Africa’s fashion powerhouse.
Senior Special Assistant on Media & Publicity Dr Nneka Ikem Anibeze in a statement quoted the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa to have said, “Our creative industry holds immense potential,”
“This collaboration is a bold step toward building a skilled workforce and turning Nigeria into a global fashion innovation hub.”
The Fashion Academy’s Director, Nina Kwande, shared the same excitement:
“Fashion is more than fabric—it’s identity, it’s culture, it’s economy. We’re proud to partner with the Ministry to nurture talent, foster entrepreneurship, and provide training that truly empowers.”
The energy surrounding the program is palpable. For many young Nigerians with a passion for style, this could be the big break they’ve been waiting for.
According to the Statement, Applications open on August 4 and close on August 11, 2025.
“If you’ve got a flair for fashion and the hunger to succeed, now’s your chance. Visit https://clap.gov.ng to apply and take your creative leap.”
