Gunmen have abducted Barrister Yusuf Musa, the Permanent Secretary of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at his residence in Ungwan Nungu, Lafia Local Government Area of the state. Barr. Musa, a former General Manager of the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service (NBS), was reportedly kidnapped without any initial trace.

According to police sources, the abduction was first suspected when a patrol team from the “B” Division of the Nigeria Police Force spotted a Peugeot pick-up van with its doors left open in front of the victim’s residence. Upon further inspection, officers noticed that the gate to the house was also wide open—signaling possible foul play.

A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the abduction.
He revealed that the victim’s GMC vehicle, bearing registration number KUJ 88 PA, was also missing, reinforcing suspicions of a coordinated kidnap operation.

“In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has activated a statewide tactical operation. All police divisions—including Akwanga, Andaha, Garaku, and Kadarko—have been placed on high alert, with surveillance deployed along strategic routes,” the statement read.

The Commissioner of Police has ordered an intensive manhunt to rescue the victim unhurt and apprehend the perpetrators behind the act.

The Police Command has also urged members of the public to remain calm, vigilant, and assist with any useful information. Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity or provide intelligence via the Command’s emergency lines: 08036157659, 08037461715, and 07032532391.
