The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State has formally screened and cleared Alhaji Auwalu Isah Manzo as its candidate for the upcoming bye-election in the Babura/Garki Federal Constituency.
The screening exercise, held at the PDP state secretariat in Dutse, was conducted by a five-member committee led by Miss Precious Ben and witnessed by the party’s deputy chairman. Miss Ben expressed satisfaction with Manzo’s credentials and eligibility.

“We thoroughly screened him in line with the PDP constitution and electoral guidelines. He is fully qualified for the position,” she stated.
Speaking after his clearance, Alhaji Auwalu Isah Manzo expressed strong confidence in his chances of defeating the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and other contenders.
“I have full hope and confidence that I will defeat the APC candidate and others with a wide margin,” he declared.
He attributed his confidence to his popularity and long-standing relationship with the people of the constituency. “I was born and raised here. I have never left the people. I understand their needs and daily challenges,” he said.
Manzo also took a swipe at his opponents, claiming that some candidates emerged not through democratic processes but were imposed by a few powerful individuals. “I was democratically chosen by the people of my party. I have no fear of anyone imposed by force or political influence.”
If elected, Manzo pledged to provide effective representation and ensure that the rights and entitlements of the people of Babura/Garki are fully protected. He also promised to prioritize youth and women empowerment, education, and poverty alleviation.
The bye-election is scheduled for August, following the declaration of vacancy by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
