Governor Yusuf Wins Top Infrastructure Award at London’s African Achievers Event

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has been named Governor of the Year in Infrastructure Development at the prestigious 15th African Achievers Awards, held at the House of Lords, Westminster Palace, London.

The award, presented by the Deputy Mayor of London, Mr. Mete Coban, recognizes Governor Yusuf’s strides in infrastructure, including major road constructions, urban renewal programmes, and the rehabilitation of key public facilities aimed at modernizing Kano State.

In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Governor was represented at the event by Usman Bala, mni, Special Adviser on State Affairs, and Sunusi Bature, Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Kano.

Receiving the award on behalf of the Governor, Usman Bala described the honour as a testament to the Governor’s commitment to inclusive and transformative development.

“This recognition underscores Governor Yusuf’s dedication to prioritizing infrastructure that impacts the lives of millions across Kano,” he stated.

The African Achievers Awards is a renowned platform established to honour African leaders and institutions driving measurable impact in leadership, development, and social innovation.

This year’s edition also honoured the Governor of Benue State and the King of the Zolu Nation of South Africa, reflecting a broad recognition of leadership excellence across the continent.

Governor Yusuf’s recognition not only cements his legacy on the global stage but also positions Kano State as a model for infrastructure-driven governance in Nigeria.
