Trailblazers Ifejika, Akpani To Headline Indigenous Oil & Gas Summit in Lagos

Two of Nigeria’s most formidable forces in the oil and gas industry, Chief Uju Ifejika and Mrs. Winifred Akpani, are set to headline the Indigenous Oil & Gas Investors Summit, taking place July 23–24, 2025, at the Bickley Park Waterfront Hotel in Lekki, Lagos.

Themed “Local Vision, Global Impact: The Future of Oil and Gas Investment in Nigeria,” the summit will convene stakeholders, investors, and policymakers to explore pathways for sustainable indigenous participation in Nigeria’s energy sector. Ifejika, Chairperson/CEO of Brittania-U Nigeria Limited, and Akpani, Managing Director of Northwest Petroleum & Gas Company Limited, will co-lead a keynote session titled “The Challenges and Triumphs of Women in the Oil and Gas Sector.”

Their presence not only celebrates their individual achievements but also highlights the evolving role of women in shaping Nigeria’s energy future. Both executives are credited with pioneering leadership and building resilient, locally-owned oil and gas enterprises in an industry long dominated by global majors and male counterparts.

“These are women who didn’t just rise through the ranks—they created entirely new standards of excellence,” said Wenefred Odunze, Coordinator of the summit. “They represent what’s possible when local vision meets bold leadership.”

The event promises to spark dynamic conversations around gender inclusion, indigenous investment, local content policy, and innovation. Organizers have called on stakeholders, development partners, and industry players to register early, citing high interest and limited seating.

As Nigeria’s energy sector charts a new course amid global energy transitions, the Indigenous Oil & Gas Investors Summit offers a timely platform to amplify local voices—especially the women redefining the future of oil and gas.
