In a powerful display of loyalty, respect, and enduring political ties, former local government council speakers from Jigawa State who served under the second tenure of former Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar have paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of Defence.
The delegation, led by Forum Chairman Alhaji Ali Zarada Gagarawa, met with the Minister on Friday, June 20, 2025, to extend Eid el-Kabeer greetings and express unwavering support for his leadership at the national level.
The symbolic visit, coming just days after the peaceful completion of Eid festivities, was more than a courtesy—it was a moment of reaffirmation and political solidarity.
The speakers, once central figures in grassroots governance across Jigawa’s 27 local councils, offered heartfelt prayers for Allah’s guidance and protection upon the Minister as he leads the nation’s defence strategy during challenging times.

“Our visit today is not only to celebrate the blessings of Eid but to honour a leader who continues to make Jigawa proud on the national stage,” said Alhaji Zarada. “We pray that Allah strengthens him with wisdom and grants him continued success in the vital task of safeguarding our country.”

Joining the Minister to receive the delegation were other prominent Jigawa figures, including APC State Chairman Alhaji Aminu Sani Gumel; Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Jallo, Member representing Hadejia in the Jigawa State House of Assembly; and Hon. Ahmed Rufai, former Chairman of Gumel Local Government.

Political observers see the visit as a significant gesture of unity, echoing the deep-rooted loyalty the Minister continues to enjoy within Jigawa’s political architecture.
It also reflects the growing expectation that national leaders remain connected to their grassroots foundations even while serving in high offices.
The Honourable Minister, visibly moved by the visit, expressed appreciation for the prayers and reaffirmed his commitment to national peace and stability. “Security is everyone’s responsibility, and with your continued support and prayers, we will overcome the challenges before us,” he said.
As Nigeria continues to navigate complex security dynamics, such moments of connection between federal leadership and grassroots actors send a clear message: unity, tradition, and purpose remain critical pillars in the pursuit of national renewal.
