2027: Makinde Presidential Posters Flood Jigawa Capital, Major Towns

Posters promoting the presidential ambition of Oyo State Governor, Engineer Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde, under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have flooded major towns and streets across Jigawa State, including the state capital, Dutse.

The posters—bearing slogans such as “To Move Nigeria Forward 2027: His Excellency Engineer Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde for President, Federal Republic of Nigeria” and “2027: To Move Nigeria Forward, Seyi Makinde is the Answer”—have appeared prominently at roundabouts, junctions, and public spaces across Dutse and several local government headquarters.

Key locations adorned with the campaign posters include Unity Pentagon, the Police Headquarters, Mai Kwaya Roundabout, Obasanjo Road, Muhammadu Buhari Street, Abdussalam Abubakar Street, and Abdullahi Mai Kano Road, among others.

In an interview with National Update, the National Secretary of the Nigeria Youths Awareness Group for Makinde 2027 (NYAG Makinde 2027), Alhaji Lawal Abdullahi, said the poster campaign marks the beginning of a national movement to draft Governor Makinde into the 2027 presidential race.

“His Excellency, Engineer Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde, has offered himself in service to Nigeria and Nigerians,” Abdullahi declared. “We call on all lovers of democracy—regardless of party affiliation—to rally around him for the good of the country.”

According to him, several youth and civil society groups have come together across political divides to form a unified front supporting Makinde’s candidacy. “We are a moving train, and there is no stopping us until a Seyi Makinde presidency becomes reality,” he said.

Abdullahi also revealed that the movement has been engaging prominent political figures and stakeholders across the country and claims to have received widespread support.

“This is more than a campaign—it is a national movement,” he stated. “We have produced all campaign materials: posters, billboards, handbills, and other branded items. By next week, we will flood the entire Northern Nigeria with them, in shaa Allah.”

He added that Jigawa is just the beginning, promising similar campaigns in Bauchi, Kano, Katsina, Borno, Yobe, and Gombe in the coming days. “The North will roar for Seyi Makinde, and then we will take the movement to the South,” Abdullahi said confidently.

Though Governor Makinde has not officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election, the groundswell of support and early mobilisation suggests growing momentum behind his candidacy.
