The 7th Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed 21 bills and 41 resolutions in the last two years, marking what the Speaker, Dr. Danladi Jatau, describes as a productive and united legislative session.

Dr. Jatau disclosed this on Wednesday during a plenary session in Lafia to mark the end of the Assembly’s second legislative year. He praised the lawmakers for their commitment, unity, and collaboration, describing the current Assembly as one of the best in the state’s history.

“Since the inception of the 7th Assembly, we have passed 21 bills—17 of which were executive bills and 4 private member bills—and adopted 41 resolutions,” the Speaker said.

He attributed the Assembly’s achievements to the harmonious relationship among members and the strong collaboration with other arms of government.

“I cannot thank you enough for your dedication, integrity, and the synergy we have built together. This Assembly is made up of competent members who carry out their duties diligently. I urge you to continue in that spirit,” he added.

Dr. Jatau also reaffirmed his commitment to open and inclusive leadership, vowing to maintain a strong partnership with the executive and judiciary for the progress of the state.

“We remain committed to supporting His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule, and ensuring a smooth working relationship with all arms of government,” he assured.

The Speaker further pledged to improve the welfare of the Assembly’s staff and enhance their standard of living.

In a related development, the House also took the first reading of a bill to establish the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Akwanga 2025, during Wednesday’s sitting. The Majority Leader, Hon. Suleiman Yakubu-Azara, moved the motion for the bill to be read, and it was seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Luka Iliya-Zhekaba.

The bill passed its first reading unanimously, and the Speaker scheduled its second reading for July 14, 2025.

The House then proceeded on its annual legislative recess and is expected to reconvene on July 14.
