The former Senator representing Kogi West, Smart Adeyemi, is bereaved following the passing of his mother, Princess Victoria Oyeyemi Adeyemi, at the age of 88.
Princess Adeyemi died peacefully on Wednesday morning at her residence in Abuja after a brief illness, according to a family statement released by her son’s Personal Assistant, Mr. Kayode Olorunmotito. Until her final days, she was widely known as a pillar of strength, grace, and wisdom within her family and the Iyara community.
Described as a matriarch, entrepreneur, and virtuous woman, her death has sent ripples of grief through the community she passionately served.
In a condolence message issued on Thursday, the National President of the Iyara Development Association (IDA), Dr. Aliyu Badaki, paid tribute to her enduring legacy of service and community development.
“This is to announce the glorious exit of our dear, lovely grandma, Mama Victoria Oyeyemi Adeyemi (née Ibilola),” the statement read.
“She will always be remembered for her love and passion towards the development of Iyara.”
Dr. Badaki extended heartfelt condolences to Senator Adeyemi and his family, praying for the peaceful repose of her soul and strength for the bereaved.
“May her soul rest in peace. Our condolences to the entire family, especially the Distinguished Senator Smart Adeyemi and the community in general,” he added.
The late Princess Adeyemi, who spent most of her life in Minna, Niger State, before relocating to Abuja, was revered not only as a mother but as a moral compass and source of encouragement to many across generations.
The family noted that funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
