Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has applauded the 8th Kogi State House of Assembly for its principled, people-focused, and purposeful leadership, which he said has greatly contributed to the delivery of good governance across the state.
Governor Ododo made this known in remarks delivered on his behalf by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo, during a special session held in Lokoja on Wednesday to commemorate the second anniversary of the 8th Assembly.

Commending the lawmakers, the Governor praised the collaborative spirit between the Legislature and the Executive, noting that it has redefined governance in the state.
“You have maintained the independence of the Legislature with honour and dignity, yet demonstrated a clear readiness to work in synergy with the Executive arm for the overall good of Kogi State,” he said. “That is the kind of leadership our people deserve—principled, people-focused, and purposeful.”
Governor Ododo described the celebration as more than a mere milestone, calling it “a recognition of service, sacrifice, and sincere commitment to the progress of our dear state.”
“Two years may seem like a short time in a four-year tenure, but what you have accomplished within this period speaks volumes about your dedication to the mandate entrusted to you by the people of Kogi State,” he added.
The Governor commended all members of the Assembly for consistently prioritizing the interests of the people above personal or partisan considerations.
“Your legislative achievements have been remarkable. The bills you have passed so far have laid strong foundations for effective governance, institutional strengthening, and socio-economic development across the state.
“These are not just laws on paper—they are instruments of transformation and progress. Your oversight functions have also been thorough and impactful, reflecting maturity, responsibility, and a genuine commitment to transparency and good governance,” he noted.
The Governor further emphasized that the Assembly’s commitment has greatly improved the quality of service delivery in his administration.
In his vote of thanks, Hon. Dr. Suleiman Abdulrazak, Majority Leader of the House, attributed the harmonious relationship between the Executive and Legislature to visionary leadership.
“Ours is different because we have a leader that believes in the unity of Kogi State in the person of Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, who laid the foundation for unity and progress,” he said.
“And when our current Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, assumed office, he continued on that path—ensuring we have a House that is united for the common good,” the Majority Leader added.
