A former Minister of Environment under the Buhari administration, Barrister Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Abdullahi conveyed his decision in a letter dated June 1, 2025, addressed to the APC Chairman of his Uke Ward in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The letter, which was also copied to key party officials, stated that his resignation was based on personal reasons.
The former minister thanked the party for the platform it provided over the years and wished the APC well in future political engagements.
Confirming the development in Lafia, a close ally, Mr. Samuel Akala, said Abdullahi’s next political move may involve declaring for another party, amid growing speculation about his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in the state.
Abdullahi, who once served as Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government under former Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, is seen as a formidable political force with deep influence in state politics.
His resignation has sparked conversations within the APC camp, as stakeholders weigh the implications of losing one of the party’s most experienced and prominent figures ahead of the next election cycle.
