The Senate Committee on Army has applauded the Nigerian Army’s Special Forces under Operation HADIN KAI for a decisive operation in Kukawa, Borno State, that led to the elimination of Amir Abu Fatima—a top Boko Haram/ISWAP commander with a ₦100 million bounty on his head.
Fatima’s death, alongside several of his close associates, marks a critical blow to the terrorist group’s leadership and significantly weakens its operational capabilities in the North East.
Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, who chairs the Committee, commended the troops for their precision and bravery, especially noting that the complex operation was executed without any casualties on the Nigerian side.
“This is a powerful statement of what our armed forces can achieve. It shows that with the right intelligence and planning, our military can and will neutralize threats to national security,” Yar’adua said.
He urged the military to keep the pressure on terrorist factions, emphasizing that continuous offensive actions are crucial to restoring lasting peace in the region.
Reaffirming its support, the Senate Committee on Army pledged to work closely with the Nigerian Army to ensure soldiers remain well-trained, adequately equipped, and fully motivated to carry out their mandate.
