    Children’s Day 2025: Kogi Assembly Speaker urges parents to inculcate positive values

    SPEAKER of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf has called on parents to inculcate positive values in children early in life and take necessary steps to ensure they don’t lose their innocence as impressionable individuals.

    The Speaker made the call in his congratulatory message to Nigerian children and particularly, Kogi State children on the occasion of the 2025 Children’s Day Celebration.

    In a press statement signed and made available to newsmen by Yabagi Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Yusuf described children as the future of the nation and the state, and enjoined parents to give adequate care to their welfare.

    He stressed the need for parents to take necessary steps to ensure children don’t lose their innocence, as he stressed that as impressionable
    individuals, there was need to inculcate positive values in them early in life.

    “Parents need to understand that their children are gifts nature has imposed on them and that they are responsibilities in which they cannot afford to fail.

    “In the face of negative trends in today’s society, there is need for parents to ensure they give children sound education and religious training that would sway the children away from the vices that pervading the society,” he added.

    The Speaker said the 8th Assembly in the state is prepared to come up with laws that would protect the children against all practices that endanger and hinder their positive development.

    He urged the people of the state to continue to support government policies and programmes at all times.

    Speaker Yusuf also congratulated parents in the state, and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo as well as members of the State House of Assembly and other government functionaries for creating safe and habitable environment for children in the state. (Ends)
