The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Fred Itua, has received a prestigious award for Digitalization, presented by Pinnacle Builder Homes and Properties in Benin City.

The award recognizes Mr. Itua’s exceptional contributions to modern media practices, particularly in deploying digital platforms to amplify the activities and achievements of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration.

Speaking at the event, the CEO of Pinnacle Builder Homes and Properties, Mr. Samson Areladia, praised Mr. Itua’s dedication, professionalism, and years of experience in the media industry.
He noted that the award was well-deserved and reflective of Mr. Itua’s consistent effort in engaging the public through innovative digital communication.

In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Itua expressed surprise and deep appreciation for the recognition, describing it as a strong motivation to keep delivering quality work.
e dedicated the award to the people of Edo State, the media community, and Governor Okpebholo for providing him with a platform to serve.

“This award is a great honour and, interestingly, I didn’t lobby for it—it came as a complete surprise,” Itua said. “It shows that whatever we do, even behind the scenes, people are paying attention.
When you are assigned a task as a public official, give it your best, because your efforts will be either recognized or criticized.”

He also extended his gratitude to journalists in Edo State for their collaboration, support, and constructive criticism. “No matter how well you write or speak, if the journalists do not amplify your message, it won’t reach the public. They’ve made my job easier, and I deeply appreciate them,” he added.

Mr. Itua concluded by dedicating the award to his boss, Governor Monday Okpebholo, for the trust and opportunity to serve the people of Edo.

Also honored at the ceremony was the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr. Festus Alenkhe, who expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the media profession and contributing to societal development.

The Digitalization Award stands as a testament to Mr. Itua’s hard work, leadership, and effective use of modern media tools in public service.
