Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has formally thrown his hat into the ring for the Nasarawa North Senatorial District seat in the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Director-General of the Nasarawa State Bureau for Pension Administration, Suleiman Musa-Nagogo, during a strategic consultative meeting with APC stakeholders in Wamba Local Government Area—the governor’s political base.
“I bring a message of great political significance from His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule: he is officially declaring his intention to contest for the Senate seat representing Nasarawa North in 2027,” Musa-Nagogo announced to a gathering of party faithful.
He said the governor, having served with distinction as the state’s chief executive, is poised to bring his wealth of experience to the National Assembly, where he hopes to champion the developmental interests of the zone on a larger stage.
“This is not just any ambition. This is our ambition—our project. And as they say, charity begins at home. Wamba must take the lead in supporting this noble cause,” he declared.
Musa-Nagogo further revealed that Governor Sule has already constituted a campaign committee to begin mobilization across the three local governments of Akwanga, Nasarawa-Eggon, and Wamba, which make up the senatorial district. He stressed that while the campaign is still in its early stages, groundwork is already being laid for a formidable showing.
“We’re not just talking politics—we’re talking about competence, vision, and proven leadership. No one understands the dynamics and challenges of this zone better than Engineer Sule,” he added.
He pointed to the governor’s track record, citing major strides in infrastructure, solid mineral development, and agriculture as hallmarks of a leadership style that prioritizes results over rhetoric.
“From the transformation of Lafia to the revitalization of the agricultural sector and the aggressive push in solid mineral development, Governor Sule has shown that progress is possible. It’s time for that vision to go national,” Musa-Nagogo said.
The DG rallied the people of Wamba to own the project and ensure that no other axis of the district outpaces them in delivering support.
“Governor Sule has made Wamba his home. We must not allow any other area to be louder than us in this journey. This is our moment to stand tall,” he concluded.
With this declaration, political observers say Governor Sule joins a growing list of outgoing governors seeking legislative relevance, but his camp insists his ambition is driven by a desire to consolidate development gains and give Nasarawa North a stronger voice in national affairs.
