The new Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State, Mr. Bala Bawa Boddinga, has recorded major successes in the fight against crime
Barely five days into his tenure he has led operations that resulted in the arrest of livestock rustlers and electricity vandals across Gumel and Malam Madori local government areas.
Speaking while parading the suspects at the NSCDC state headquarters in Dutse, Commandant Boddinga said his team carried out swift intelligence-led operations that led to the arrest of Adamu Hassan, a resident of Kantamari village in Guri LGA.
Hassan was intercepted in Malam Madori while transporting 11 stolen livestock, including 19 goats and one calf, in a Sharon bus.
“Despite assuming office only last Friday, our efforts have already begun yielding results,” Boddinga said. “We recovered a motorcycle, bows and arrows, and a machete from the suspect during preliminary investigations.”
In a separate operation, the command arrested seven suspects aged between 17 and 37 for vandalizing electricity poles in Gumel LGA. Tools recovered from them included iron rods, hoes, diggers, shovels, and hammers—indicating they were actively engaged in illegal activities at the time of their arrest.
Commandant Boddinga reaffirmed his commitment to cleansing the state of criminal elements and called on citizens to support the agency’s efforts by remaining vigilant and law-abiding. He also directed divisional inspectors and commanders to intensify surveillance and operations in their respective jurisdictions.
He vowed to sustain the momentum by extending the crackdown to other crimes, including drug trafficking and cattle rustling, with the support of other security agencies and community stakeholders.
“Our goal is to make Jigawa a safer place for all,” Boddinga declared.
