In a decisive move to bolster security across Nigeria’s North West, the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar and the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Dr Nasiru Idris, have pledged to deepen federal-state collaboration to end insecurity.

The high-level security meeting, held on May 8 at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, brought together top state security officials and federal stakeholders during the Minister’s operational visit to the state.

The meeting focused on enhancing synergy between national and local authorities in the collective battle against banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of violent crime plaguing the region.
Both leaders emphasized that lasting peace depends on strong intergovernmental cooperation, strategic resource deployment, and public involvement.

Minister Badaru praised the Kebbi State Government’s security interventions and reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to backing these efforts with federal assets and coordinated strategy.

Governor Nasiru Idris, in turn, welcomed the Minister’s engagement and restated his administration’s dedication to working with all security agencies and the Defence Ministry to restore peace and protect the lives and livelihoods of citizens.

The visit is seen as part of a broader national effort to unify command structures and accelerate security gains across Nigeria’s most vulnerable zones.
