A civic organization, Peoples Assembly of Nigeria (PAN), has condemned the factional President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Atiku Abubakar Isah, for what it described as a politically motivated smear campaign against Mr. Seyi Tinubu.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Usman Nagadi, PAN said it conducted an independent inquiry into the recent claims made by Isah and found them to be entirely false and without any factual basis.
“The allegations against Mr. Seyi Tinubu are nothing but a fabrication driven by greed and political manipulation,” Nagadi stated.
He alleged that Isah had attempted to extort N100 million from Tinubu but, having failed, resorted to collaborating with opposition elements to tarnish his image. “His story is riddled with contradictions and obvious falsehoods,” the PAN chairman added.
Nagadi urged Isah to retract his statements and tender an unreserved apology to Mr. Tinubu before legal consequences catch up with him. “This reckless blackmail must stop. No one should be allowed to weaponize lies for personal gain,” he warned.
Mr. Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, had earlier responded to the allegations of bribery, coercion, and abduction made against him by Isah, describing them as “completely fictional.”
In a post on Instagram, Seyi expressed disbelief:
“Wow… how can someone lie with so much confidence? An attempt to defame my character. May God be with you, Comrade Atiku Isah.”
He further clarified:
“I have never held any meeting with Comrade Isah in Lagos or anywhere in the world. I do not know him personally and have never invited him to any location with or without thugs.”
Isah had claimed in a press conference that Tinubu and the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, offered him N100 million to support the President, which he rejected. He also alleged that he was abducted and assaulted on April 15, but PAN has dismissed the entire account as a “badly scripted political drama.”
