The Chairman of the Jigawa State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Local Government Electoral Committee, Alhaji Sheriff Abdullahi, has described the party’s local government congress as peaceful, successful, and highly democratic.
Speaking during the collation of election results for the 27 local government areas at the PDP secretariat in Dutse, Alhaji Sheriff, who was also the PDP gubernatorial candidate for Yobe State in the 2023 General Elections, commended the conduct of the exercise, noting that it reflected a high level of internal democracy.
“In all the places my committee members and I visited, the exercise was conducted peacefully and in full accordance with the party’s constitutional provisions and guidelines,” he said.
Alhaji Sheriff Abdullahi expressed satisfaction with the large turnout of party members across the state, describing it as evidence that the PDP remains strong and rooted in the minds of the people of Jigawa and Nigeria at large.
He also commended the leader of the PDP in Jigawa, Alhaji Sule Lamido, the local organizing committee, party executives, and all members for their dedication and commitment to the success of the congress.
In his remarks, the PDP leader in Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, also expressed satisfaction with the process, describing it as one of the best-organized congresses in the party’s history.
Lamido emphasized that the current PDP is for patient, principled, and resilient individuals — not for the greedy or those seeking quick gains.

“The PDP today is not for people in a hurry. It is for those who have the patience and commitment to build lasting structures. Those pushing for coalitions to defend APC and Tinubu are misreading the political climate,” he said.
He reassured members that defections would not weaken the PDP, stating:
“Some of those leaving are doing so to seek protection for their questionable wealth and acts. We will not be shaken.”
Lamido urged party faithful to remain strong, united, and focused on the goal of rescuing Nigeria from the challenges posed by the current APC administration.
Similarly, the 2023 PDP gubernatorial candidate in Jigawa State, Alhaji Mustapha Sule Lamido, commended the electoral committee from the national headquarters for their professionalism, experience, and loyalty to the party.
He also called on all PDP members to remain peaceful, patient, and committed.
“Victory is near. We must stay united and continue working for the success of the party,” he said.
The Jigawa State chapter of the PDP successfully elected new executives across the 27 local government areas during the congress held on Saturday.
The congress was organized following the expiration of the tenure of the former local government and state executive members.
