The Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State, Honourable Ali Idris Diginsa, has slammed the recent defection of both a current and former Delta State governor from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a shameful betrayal of trust and a clear sign of desperation for power.
Speaking in an interview with National Update, Diginsa accused the defectors of prioritizing personal ambition over party loyalty and the mandate of the people.
“These individuals were elevated by the PDP—made governors and even vice-presidential candidates against internal opposition—yet they turned their backs on the party that built them,” Diginsa said.
He stressed that the PDP remains undisturbed by the defections, describing them as isolated cases among millions of committed party members across the country.
“Their actions don’t shake us. The PDP is bigger than any individual,” he added.
According to Diginsa, the people who voted these politicians into office under the PDP banner are watching and will not forget this betrayal.
“They got their mandate through the PDP. If they’re defecting out of fear or selfish motives, they’ll soon realize the cost. The people of Delta State still stand with the PDP.”
He further stated that power comes from God—not from political positions or alliances—and warned that selfish pursuits will never triumph over the public good.
Reflecting on the 2015 general elections, Diginsa pointed out that the PDP lost power despite holding the presidency and dominating nearly all levels of government.
“God allowed the APC to win then. Nothing stops Him from returning power to the PDP in 2027,” he concluded confidently.
