In a bold move that intertwines fashion, diplomacy, and national branding, the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy has launched a nationwide creative competition titled “Nigeria Everywhere: The Creative Collection.”
This initiative aims to use fashion as a powerful tool of cultural diplomacy, positioning Nigerian creativity at the heart of global conversations.
With the 68th UN Tourism Commission for Africa (CAF) set to take place in June 2025, the competition is more than just a showcase of style—it’s a strategic statement.
By curating and presenting original fashion pieces at the high-profile global event, the Ministry seeks to reframe the narrative around Nigeria’s creative economy, turning traditional craftsmanship into a modern symbol of innovation and soft power.
“The goal is not just to display clothes,” says Dr. Nneka Ikem Anibeze, Special Assistant on Media & Publicity. “We’re telling the Nigerian story—our diversity, resilience, and brilliance—through design.”
Beyond aesthetics, the initiative promises economic impact. Selected designers will gain access to international markets, future residencies, and collaborations.
For many emerging creatives, this could be a career-defining leap.
The call for entries, open until April 24th, is targeted at active fashion designers and multidisciplinary creatives who have a strong portfolio and a collaborative mindset.
Finalists will not only design for the Ministry but also represent Nigeria at an event where culture and tourism leaders from across Africa and beyond will be in attendance.
As Nigeria continues to position itself as a continental creative hub, initiatives like “Nigeria Everywhere” reflect a growing understanding of how culture and commerce intersect, and how fashion can be a flag bearer on the global stage.
