Following the resounding affirmation of his election by the tribunal, Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has hosted top chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at a victory dinner in Government House.
Held at the New Festival Hall in Government House, Benin City, the event was more than a celebration—it was a declaration of intent
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Fred Itua in a statement on Tuesday indicated that the event was a night of jubilation, renewed hope, and political solidarity
According to the statement, visibly moved by the strong turnout of party loyalists, leaders, and supporters, Governor Okpebholo pledged to accelerate infrastructure development and deliver on his promises now that the legal hurdles are behind him.
“Edo people gave us their mandate. The courts have confirmed it. Now, it’s time to work,” the Governor declared, his voice steady with conviction. “We are adopting practical governance to bring tangible change. The time for politics is over—this is the era of progress.”
The Governor also paid glowing tribute to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he described as a steadfast party leader who refused to bow to pressure to betray the APC during the tense post-election period.
“Despite pressure from different quarters, the President stood firm. He refused to do anti-party, and that loyalty has helped preserve the unity and strength of our party in Edo,” Okpebholo noted.
Joining in the celebration was former governor and Senator representing Edo North, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, who described the tribunal judgment as “divine confirmation” of the people’s will.
“When men tried to challenge what God had ordained, the courts stood with justice. Today, we are witnessing God’s decision overrule man’s doubt. Edo has spoken, and the court has echoed that voice,” Oshiomhole said, receiving applause from the hall.
The dinner became a melting pot of leaders from across the three senatorial districts, all united by a shared sense of victory and renewed purpose.
Former Deputy Governors Pius Odubu, Peter Obadan, and Comrade Philip Shaibu were all present, along with Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa and members of the Edo State House of Assembly.
APC Chairman Jaret Tenebe described the gathering as “a reunion of faith and forward movement,” assuring that Governor Okpebholo is already delivering on his promises across multiple sectors.
Other party leaders echoed the Governor’s commitment to inclusive governance. Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu called on the Governor to carry everyone along, while Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe (rtd) celebrated the transformation of the “Esan Agenda” into a collective “Edo Agenda.”
As the night progressed, what stood out was a sense of shared responsibility—one that transcended party loyalty and spoke to a broader vision of growth, unity, and development in Edo State.
With the legal distractions now behind him, all eyes are on Governor Okpebholo, who has vowed to let his work speak louder than his words.
