The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what she described as a “bold and transformative push” toward infrastructural excellence in the capital, during the grand unveiling of the Guzape Mall.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony in the upscale Guzape District, a major commercial milestone in Abuja’s rapidly urbanizing landscape, Mahmoud said the new mall is not just a retail center, but a reflection of a broader vision to reshape Abuja into a globally competitive city.
Special adviser on media to the minister, Austine Elemue quoted her to have explained,
“This mall represents more than bricks and mortar , it’s a statement of intent,” Mahmoud declared. “It symbolizes the progress, vision, and determination that define the Tinubu administration’s commitment to development. This is the new Abuja.”
The Guzape Mall, developed through a strategic public-private partnership between the Abuja Investment Company Limited and Urban Shelter Limited, boasts 46 commercial spaces, over 200 parking slots, and a land utilization strategy that aligns with Abuja’s smart urban planning requirements, with only 27% of its 1.45 hectares built up, allowing for spacious circulation.
Beyond the physical infrastructure, Mahmoud emphasized the socio-economic impact of the project, noting that it has already generated hundreds of jobs during its construction and is set to create even more in the areas of retail, hospitality, maintenance, and services.
“It provides a platform for local entrepreneurs, creates jobs for our youth, and offers families and friends a space to connect and enjoy quality services,” she said.
Ambassador Maureen Tamuno, Group Managing Director of the Abuja Investment Company Limited, hailed the mall as a flagship achievement in Abuja’s public-private investment strategy, praising the dedication of stakeholders including FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
“The successful completion of Guzape Mall is proof of what’s possible when government and the private sector work hand-in-hand,” Tamuno said. “It’s more than a mall — it’s a catalyst for economic activity in Guzape and beyond.”
With Abuja among the fastest-growing cities in Africa, the opening of Guzape Mall underscores a larger story: one of a capital city leaning confidently into the future, powered by strategic investments, smart planning, and bold leadership.
