Nicholas Ukachukwu has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, sweeping aside his main rival, Valentine Ozigbo, in a primary that left no room for doubt.
Held on Saturday, the APC primary saw Ukachukwu pull in a commanding 1,455 votes, while Ozigbo trailed far behind with just 67. For many, the result wasn’t just a win—it was a declaration of dominance.
With this victory, Ukachukwu steps into the ring ahead of the November 2025 Anambra gubernatorial election, one of Nigeria’s biggest off-cycle polls this year. He’ll be facing the incumbent, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who already secured the APGA ticket for re-election.
After clinching the ticket, Ukachukwu didn’t hold back.
“We shall deliver Anambra to the APC,” he declared boldly. “No one has ever won the governorship of Anambra without my support—it has never happened. I’ve been the godfather behind the scenes. But now? I’m stepping forward. No more godfather. I want to be the father of the father.”
The statement sent a clear message: the kingmaker wants the crown.
As campaign season kicks off, all eyes will be on Ukachukwu—will he finally convert his long-standing influence into the top seat of power in Awka? Or will Soludo hold his ground and rewrite the script?
November can’t come soon enough.
