The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has once again dismissed the petition seeking to recall Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, citing constitutional deficiencies.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the electoral body declared that the petition failed to meet the requirements outlined in Section 69(a) of the 1999 Constitution.
“The petition for the recall of the Senator representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District has not met the requirement of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended),” the statement read.
This rejection follows an earlier dismissal in which INEC flagged the petition for lacking essential contact details and failing to meet procedural standards. Although the petitioners later attempted to correct the errors, the commission has once again ruled it invalid.
With this latest decision, Natasha’s political adversaries have suffered a setback, while her supporters see it as further proof that the recall efforts are politically motivated. The rejection also adds another twist to the ongoing political storm surrounding the embattled senator.
