President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of board chairmen for 23 federal agencies, including the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the National Automotive Development Council, while also naming a new Director-General for the National Agricultural Seed Council.
In a major shake-up, the President appointed Felix Morka, National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the Board Chairman of NTA. Additionally, Hon. Fatuhu Mohammed Buhari from Katsina State has been named the Director-General of the National Agricultural Seed Council.
Other notable appointments include Chief Emma Eneukwu as Chairman of the National Automotive Development Council and Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas as Chairman of the Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Service. The list also features prominent APC state chairmen, assigned to various institutions such as the National Library of Nigeria, National Orthopedic Hospital, and Forestry Research Institute.
The appointments are seen as part of President Tinubu’s strategy to strengthen governance and reposition key sectors of the economy. With many of the appointees being APC leaders, the move signals a blend of political loyalty and administrative restructuring.
As these new leaders take charge, attention will be on how their appointments impact the efficiency and effectiveness of the institutions they now oversee.
