Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has strongly condemned the killing of travelers in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area, vowing that those responsible will face the full weight of the law.
Visiting the town on Friday, March 28, 2025, the Governor expressed deep concern over the brutal attack, allegedly carried out by local vigilantes. According to reports, the victims were traveling from Port Harcourt when they were stopped, accused of criminal activity, and gruesomely murdered. Their vehicle was also set on fire.
Governor Okpebholo decried the lawlessness of the act, emphasizing that no individual or group has the right to take justice into their own hands. He has directed the Edo State Police Command to launch a full-scale investigation to ensure that all those involved are brought to justice.
He also commended the Arewa community in Uromi for maintaining peace despite the tragedy and urged all residents to remain calm as the government takes decisive action to prevent a recurrence.
