The Kogi State Government has vowed to work closely with security agencies to uncover the circumstances surrounding the jailbreak at the Federal Correctional Center, Kotonkarfe. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of March 24, saw 12 inmates escaping, with one already recaptured.

In an official statement, issued by the commissioner of information Kingsley Fanwo, the government expressed concerns over possible internal complicity, citing reports that the inmates fled through the facility’s tower without causing structural damage.
The state insisted that a full-scale investigation is necessary to determine the facts, apprehend all escapees, and prevent future breaches.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has directed the State Security Adviser to collaborate with the Federal Correctional Center and other security agencies to tighten security measures. The government also assured the public of its unwavering commitment to law and order, warning that anyone found harboring escapees will face the full weight of the law.
Commending the swift response of security forces, the government urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. It reassured residents that decisive actions are underway to maintain peace and security across the state.
