The political landscape in Kogi State has once again been thrust into the spotlight as Senator Sunday Karimi of Kogi West sharply criticized the conduct of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in the Senate.
In a statement released in Lokoja, Karimi expressed disappointment over the ongoing friction between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, describing it as an embarrassment to Kogi State. He argued that former Governor Yahaya Bello had foreseen these challenges, citing the senator’s alleged defiance and controversial approach to legislative duties.
Karimi lamented that despite repeated counsel, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s actions have negatively impacted the state’s image. He emphasized that Bello’s leadership was focused on ensuring quality representation, asserting that the current situation in the Senate justifies the former governor’s concerns.
“All our advice to her fell on deaf ears. The former governor saw this coming. Kogi is now caught in a political mess due to her actions,” Karimi stated.
This development comes amid heightened political rivalries, with Akpoti-Uduaghan remaining a polarizing figure in Kogi’s political scene.
