The Kogi West Progressive Youths Forum (KWPYF) strongly condemns the recent misleading statements made by Senator Sunday Karimi against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. His remarks not only distort the truth but also attempt to justify the injustices faced by Senator Natasha during the elections, particularly the actions of former Governor Yahaya Bello against women in politics.
In a statement jointly signef by
Bamidele Austine Olorunpomi (President) and Arc. Ismaila Fatai Ahmed (Secretary General) the youth group it is evident that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has set an unprecedented standard in legislative representation through her Mega Empowerment Scheme, which has significantly improved the lives of her constituents.
“Her achievements stand in stark contrast to the lackluster performance of Senator Karimi, whose tenure has been marked by inefficiency and a failure to deliver tangible results.
Senator Karimi has a history of contradicting himself. He once publicly criticized former Governor Yahaya Bello, stating on a live broadcast (Channels TV) that:
“All Yahaya Bello is doing in Kogi State is nothing but looting, looting, looting! He has nothing to show for the billions of Naira he collected from the Federal Government as allocation.”
However, he has now conveniently shifted his stance, praising the same Yahaya Bello while attempting to discredit a performing senator. His actions clearly expose his desperation for political survival and his quest for an automatic return ticket to the Senate.
Given the irrational and reckless statements being made in the Senate, they called on the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to introduce mandatory drug testing for all aspiring members of the National Assembly.
This will safeguard our democracy from being hijacked by individuals who lack the clarity and integrity required for effective leadership.
It is concerning that a senator, whose duty is to legislate, would reduce the hallowed chambers of the Senate to a confessional booth, declaring himself a “sinner” rather than focusing on meaningful governance.
His recent comments serve no purpose other than to incite division and create unnecessary tribal tensions between the Okun and Ebirra people.
“The people of Kogi West will not be deceived again. Senator Karimi’s political maneuvering will not secure his re-election in 2027.
“No amount of flattery or allegiance to the Senate President will change this reality. The era of ineffective representation is over, and our people will continue to support credible leaders like Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who is committed to the progress and development of Kogi State.
“We stand firmly behind Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and commend her for her outstanding representation.
“We urge Senator Sunday Karimi to focus on fulfilling his legislative duties rather than engaging in baseless attacks and divisive politics. The people of Kogi West deserve better.”
