Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has vacated the Government House in Port Harcourt as the political crisis in the state deepens.
Sources confirm that Fubara moved out early Wednesday morning, ahead of the anticipated arrival of Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd.), the newly appointed Sole Administrator of Rivers State.
A visit to the Government House revealed a heavy security presence, with at least three armoured personnel carriers positioned at the entrance. Security sources confirmed that Fubara’s security details have been replaced.
“The governor left this morning, and the new administrator is expected soon. Security has been adjusted, and for now, everything is calm,” a security official disclosed.
Despite the political uncertainty, residents of Port Harcourt have continued their daily activities with no reported disruptions.
The development followed President Bola Tinubu’s controversial declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, a move that has sparked nationwide debate.
While the Presidency argues the decision was necessary to address security concerns and political instability, critics, including opposition leaders, have condemned it as an unconstitutional overreach.
