A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, Hon. Shitu Idris Haruna, has challenged Governor Usman Ododo to urgently revive the multi-billion naira Lokoja Greater Water Project and other abandoned infrastructure that could transform the state.
Hon. Shitu expressed concern over the persistent water scarcity in Lokoja, stating that residents are suffering due to the neglect of a critical project initiated by past PDP-led administrations. He criticized the government for failing to provide such a basic necessity, insisting that a responsive leadership would not allow its people to endure such hardship.
“It is shocking that despite the heavy investment in the Lokoja Greater Water Project, the people of Lokoja still struggle for potable water. A government that truly cares for its citizens would not let this happen,” he said.
He also condemned the abandonment of the Ganaja-Zango bypass (Wada Road), a key infrastructure that, when completed, would boost the state’s economy by easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity between the South East, the North, and Abuja.
“The importance of this road cannot be overstated. It would not only reduce congestion on the ever-busy Ganaja-Lokoja route but also open up new economic opportunities for businesses and residents,” Hon. Shitu noted.
He urged Governor Ododo to prioritize these projects, arguing that their completion would bring unprecedented development to Kogi State.
